Congratulations to Several of Our PESI Members

Congratulations to Jaime Camero!  Jaime was recently selected as a National STEM Scholar by Western Kentucky University’s Center for Gifted Studies.  Jaime’s STEM project will get funded, she will be provided with ongoing professional development, and she will have the opportunity to present her project at the 2022 NSTA Conference in Houston, TX.  Jaime holds a Master’s Degree and is a 6th Grade Science Teacher at Walter Douglas Elementary school in the Flowing Wells Unified School District.  PESI had the pleasure of working with Jaime on our PESI/AZDFFM Forestry Grant.

Congratulations also to Ms. Rachel Carpenter and Mr. Timothy Malan! They have been selected for the Noyce Borderlands Master Teacher Fellowship! This work will be done with the National Science Foundation and the University of Arizona in an effort to support STEM education in Southern Arizona.

Rachel currently teaches 4th Grade at Borton Magnet School. She has worked as a PESI Nature Journals Workshop Instructor to provide teacher professional development in partnership with the Cooper Center for Environmental Learning, and will be teaching one of TUSD’s 2021 Summer Science PD classes.

Timothy Malan is a Master Science Teacher at Wakefield Middle School.  He is National Board Certified, has a B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology and a M.A. in Education. Timothy is our newest PESI Member!
